Henlo frens!
This week, I’d like to talk about mistakes and accidents. All frogs (and humans, from what I hear) make mistakes and have accidents; it’s a natural part of this crazy thing we call existence. The initial reaction to unplanned events will vary. Some have a nature that will make them very disappointed and sad, others are tempted to lash out and be angry, and still others wish to try to ignore it and hope that someone else will take care of it. While our initial reaction to the misstep may vary, when our rational brain takes over, our long-term reaction should be one that emphasizes grace and forgiveness. Namely, we should forgive our frens when they mess up, we should seek forgiveness from God when we mess up, and we also need to remember to forgive ourselves!
Forgiving our frens is an important way to keep our lives cozy. Not only does it keep them from fretting and agonizing over a perceived wrong, it frees us up from holding a grudge. While it may seem difficult to forgive some people of very large wrongs, the act of bottling anger and resentment inside becomes exhausting, and it’s better for both parties if you just let it go. This doesn’t mean that you must forget what happened or that everything has to be the same as before, it just means that you’re not going to hold what they did against them or be angry with them about it anymore. Asking forgiveness from God is also important. Remember that God loves you and knew you were going to mess up before you even did mess up. He wants to forgive you, but he’s not going to force his forgiveness on an unrepentant heart. It’s essential to go to Him for forgiveness and try your best not to do wrong again in the future. While you may not be able to be perfect, He knows your trying and He understands the temptation and trials that you are going through. Forgiving oneself can be the most difficult of these three tasks. Often times, we will take a very small slight that we committed and magnify it in our brains and descend into depression. Even after our frens forgives us and God forgives us, we can’t seem to let go of our wrongdoing. We may even seek to make up for it, which can cause more mistakes and make the situation even worse! Frens, forgiving yourself is an important part of living a healthy and cozy life; I’m here to tell you that it’s okay, mistakes happen, and you can let it go.
Fanks for reading frens, I lubs you all!
